About Mactools

I'm Saeed, a software developer who switched to Mac back in 2017. Since then, I've spent way too much time hunting for good Mac apps — trying things out, ditching the ones that weren't worth it, and keeping the ones that actually made a difference.

Mactools started in August 2024 as a simple idea: one place to find the best Mac apps, without having to dig through forums, Reddit threads, and outdated blog posts.

The directory covers everything from productivity and note-taking to utilities, audio tools, and cleaners. A lot of the apps listed are free or open-source — because good software doesn't have to cost anything.

Alongside the directory, the Mactools blog covers guides, comparisons, and tips for getting more out of your Mac. Same approach — honest, practical, and written from experience.

If you have a suggestion for an app to add, or just want to say hi, feel free to reach out.
